Since childbearing is a process, and child upbringing can take a village, I want to provide you with some additional tools to support you in this process. Here are some evidence based research websites, birthing classes, support groups, and play-date options.
Evidence Based Birth - Countless articles on topics surrounding birth that are backed by research. Helpful for distinguishing whether hospital policies are evidence based or not.
Science & Sensibility - a collection of research that is up-to-date and relevant to topics you may be hearing in your childbirth classes or around the world.
ICAN - International Caesarean Awareness Network. Post labor support to parents with traumatic birth experiences, particularly Caesarean Section.
Postpartum Support International - Since 85 percent of parents experience some form of Baby Blues it is good to be aware that if these are lasting longer than three or so weeks you may need support outside of the home. PSI provides a warm line which you can call any time of day for Postpartum Mood Disorder support.
PEPS - While you are waiting for your little one to arrive think about joining a support group with others in the same situation. PEPS offers a variety of classes for parents of newborns, toddlers and siblings.
La Leche League - There are groups meeting all over the greater Seattle. For more specific groups check out their link.
(The list below is for Seattle Locals)
Lilly Physical Therapy - Specializes in women's health in the Edmonds/Shoreline area.
Counseling - Whether Postpartum depression has got it's grip on you or you could just use someone to listen, Kirstin Naumann does fantastic work in the Wallingford area and is located just above Fuel Coffee.

Nursing Bras - We are lucky enough to have a Bella Materna boutique right here in Seattle, located on West Lake Union. Their boutique is open by appointment and is helpful as they provide personalized fittings whether preparing for birth or already breastfeeding. They are fantastic at helping you find your most comfortable and flattering fit.
Umbrella Tree - For those of you in Queen Anne, Umbrella Tree is a new favorite of mine, especially in the fall and winter seasons when parks are wet and rainy. You can expect to find a safe and contained play space for kids as well as all the amenities of a cafe. They even offer music together classes and wine and dine events for parents.
Beyond Birth Seattle - I recently found that there is a group of lactation specialists offering drop in courses at the Swedish Cultural Center(1920 Dexter Avenue North Seattle,WA 98109) and Aditi Yoga Studio(4206 Stone Way North Seattle,WA 98103). Covering everything from the newborns first weeks, breast feeding while going back to work, supplemental feedings and sleep patterns.
